Theme Interpretation: I guess excess would be a byproduct of corruption, not necessarily the corruption itself, but let's go with it.

"Got a trend? Chase it down like a rabid dog, make 2 millions copies of that irresistible trendy tote bag and sell it to kids! You'll make Billions, I tell ya! Billions! Then buy a round of drinks for those of us who gave you that idea. Make it 10 rounds of drinks! It's not my money we are dealing with! [Insert ugly chortling here] Hey, that's a neat little song you are making there. That first part is kinda catchy, don't you think? Simple, yet wraps around itself in a nice little bow. MASS MARKET APPEAL! Stop doing whatever is you are doing with the following section and it's ""complexities"". No one wants to hear that crap except for snooty intellectuals and they don't give us money. Give 'em more of the catchy bit! MORE! MOORREEEE!!! I want it to fill my eardrums until I can't hear myself think anymore! [Insert a more maniacal ugly chortle here. I think it's supposed to be laughter]"

And that kids, is why you should only handle excess in moderation.
