I did it two ways. On my stream, I tried to make a rousing dance set in a very kinetic time signature: 3+2+1/8. I based it off of music of Bulgarian Chorus that meshes with the setting of the video game Pathologic.I meant it to be a battling cry of encouragement in face of hardship.
Unfortunately, I ended up taking too long figuring out how to work through a Kontakt library and recording a bawu through a mic into Ableton, something I had never done before. The result sounded great, but it was by no means finished.
Friday night, when I wanted to stream, I had a mild panic attack and decided to meddle around on my hardware setup. Instead of 3+2+1/8, I did 10/4, maybe 4+3+2+1/4 but it didn't end up that way. This track is a "radio edit" of over 20 minutes of recording I did in Audacity.
Similar to my on-stream recording, I wanted something that sounded very uneasy and off-balance. Without a better grasp on creating a driving melody, it ended up being somewhat basic techno. Still, it's something that I did, and I definitely did it over two hours, though I didn't time it.
