Theme Interpretation: When the theme was chosen ("life") I immediately imagine the deep water which is the mother of all life, and wanted to create a song with nice deep and cosy sounds plenty of reverb with peaceful melodies and warm pads.
Actually, I very often find my ideas by playing with several presets of Arturia Analog Labs sounds, so did I this time, I browse the sounds, found a nice one of the Synclavier vst and decided to stick to this vst only for all the sounds.
I decided to make a 3/4 time so it is less "square" and more "round" like the circle of life haha. I wanted to make a song like "la petite fille de la mer" from Vangelis (which is as well in 3/4).
So with my first pad sound I defined the chords suite, and went for other sounds, being (or not) inspired by them and keeping the one I love and recording patterns.
At the very end, I already had enough tracks to build my song (9 actually) and I found a very nice piano sound I immediately fall in love with. And very surprisingly, when I played with it, even if I just played during one hour with 3/4 time, I just naturally played a very similar melody BUT in 4/4 !
It was so natural that I decided to put it as an intro, so the song starts in 4/4, then develop with 3/4, and of course comes back to a 4/4 ending with that wonderful piano alone to close the journey.
Software used: Reaper (DAW), Arturia Analog Lab vst (actually only the Synclavier emulator) for all the tracks
